At Imperial Chartered we are only one of 700 Chartered financial planners in the UK.
Chartered Financial Planner status is regulated by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). There are two different types of status that can be certified by the CII to financial planners, individual and corporate.
Corporate Chartered Financial Planner status
As an organisation, Imperial Chartered has been awarded a Corporate Chartered title in financial planning. This covers the whole company and is awarded based on the organisations being “competent, knowledgeable and ethical in their dealings”.
Corporate Chartered Financial Planner status is given to planners who have a strong commitment to the professional development of all employees and engage strongly with the CII and other professional qualifications. It is the highest mark of trust, capability and professionalism in the industry.
Individual financial professionals can also gain chartered status. Financial advisers can gain chartered status by taking an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning (APFS) as well as having five or more years’ experience. The Advanced Diploma can only be taken after an individual has taken a Diploma in Financial Planning or Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
The Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning takes around 1,000 hours of study to complete and is evaluated in one three hour exam. Once passed, chartered status is achieved when 5 years’ industry experience is complete. Experience before and after passing the diploma counts towards total experience.
As part of the CII charter, Imperial Chartered is required to follow a code of conduct that puts the client’s interest first. Chartered Financial Planners sign up to an ethical code and commit to continuous professional development to keep their knowledge of the ever-changing financial planning industry.
At Imperial Chartered we are proud to be a chartered organisation and are committed to improving our professional standards, capability and professionalism in our industry.
